Situated south of Andover, just off the A303, the Tidworth Polo Club has been one of Hampshire's best kept secrets – but no more! For many years the centre of military polo, the club was opened to civilians in 1994. Since then, John Wright and his dedicated team have developed and expanded the club and its facilities, so that it is now the second largest polo club in the country.
Matches, tournaments and ordinary chukkas are played every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - spectators and picnickers are welcome free of charge – and the club pavilion does a nice line in Pimms and delicious teas.
With 5 qualified coaches, the club is big on instruction too; running novice and more advanced courses and clinics every week from March – September.
Located in magnificent Tedworth Park, the club has 5 superb grounds and livery for 40 polo ponies – though that includes 20 club ponies available for hire to players who do not own their own.
Sponsorship and Corporate days (social or team building) are a popular attraction and very good value for money when compared with other more traditional but often less exciting events.
If you are bored with television and virtual reality, why not give polo a try. They say it beats Viagra any day! Just call John or Muriel to find out more about playing and social membership, courses and clinics and options for sponsorship or corporate days.
